Unlocking Team Potential – POWER-ACT

Unlocking Team Potential – The POWER-ACT

When I purchased an under performing restoration company, it wasn’t a lack of opportunity holding it back—it was a lack of leadership. The team had talent. They had experience. But they didn’t have direction, clarity, or a leader who knew how to unlock the potential that was already there. And this isn’t unique to restoration. Leadership gaps exist across nearly every industry.

Two things I brought to the organization immediately were leadership and structure—skills forged during my years serving and commanding in Special Forces. In Special Forces, success rarely happens alone. Missions are accomplished by, with, and through others by aligning purpose, building trust, and communicating clearly under pressure.

This principle isn’t just tactical; it’s cultural. It is rooted in the Special Forces motto: “De Oppresso Liber” — To Free the Oppressed. This is something Special Forces operators live by and dedicate their work to empowering those who face oppression, instability, or injustice.

In business, that same spirit applies. The motto extends far beyond the battlefield: it becomes the work of freeing what is constrained, limited, or unrealized—in people, in situations, and in teams. Leadership is the act of releasing the potential already inside your people and creating an environment where they can perform at their highest level.

Teams rarely under perform because they don’t care. They under perform because communication is unclear, inconsistent, or incomplete—or when they don’t feel safe to contribute. Without clarity and trust, the team’s potential stays oppressed.

One thing I witnessed repeatedly—even in the harshest operational environments—is that high‑performing teams are not built overnight. But they can accelerate quickly when the right drivers are in place. These drivers are what I call, The POWER‑ACT”. A framework based off eight Special Forces tested principles that elevate communication, amplify strengths, and unlock a team’s full capability.

These eight drivers are my North Star not only in turning around under performing teams, but in elevating any team. Whether they’re rebuilding momentum, strengthening culture, or striving to reach their next level of performance. They are simple. They are practical. And they work.

I’ve used this framework to rebuild failing organizations, accelerate already high‑performing teams, and unlock hidden potential in groups of every size and industry. When these principles are in place, teams communicate with clarity, act with confidence, and execute with discipline—no matter where they start.
